BERKHAMSTED WATCHMEN ON THE WALL

BERKHAMSTED WATCHMEN ON THE WALL
24 hours a day 7 days a week Prayer for Berkhamsted
Prayer Guide No 63 – February 2008

The Tabernacle of David

“David prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it…And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders by its poles….Then David spoke to the leaders to appoint singers accompanied by instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, by raising the voice with resounding joy.” 1 Chron 15:1,15,16
“On that day David first delivered this psalm….
Sing to the Lord, all the earth, proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, He is also to be feared above all gods.” 1 Chron 16:1,23-25

We sing to the Lord over Berkhamsted and proclaim the good news of His salvation every day. We declare His glory in Berkhamsted and His signs and wonders among the people. We proclaim that the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, that He is to be feared above all gods.

There is a call for more intercessors from Watford to Aylesbury, with a vision for 1000 hours of prayer and praise per month for the Valley.
If you would like to receive the prayer news for the Valley, see the attachment for more information.

PRAY FOR THE CHILDREN

There is concern regarding the oversubscribed schools in Berkhamsted with 40x 4 year olds being offered places in Hemel Hempstead. Pray for the families who are affected and the possible solution to this problem being the creation of an extra classroom at a school in Berkhamsted.
Pray for strong family relationships, especially for the relationship between fathers and their children. Pray that “the hearts of the father will turn to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.” Mal 4:6
Pray for children’s workers as they reach families through the children.
Pray for the power of God to come upon the children, that they would be filled with the spirit of prayer and supplication.

PRAY FOR THE TOWN
A picture has been given of a golden cloud over the town, and another of angels flying up and down the valley.

Pray for God’s glory to fall on Berkhamsted and His presence in the Valley.
Pray for revival in Berkhamsted.
Pray for culture of forgiveness in the town, rather than offence.
Pray for new residents in Berkhamsted, that as houses are for sale, God would re-position people and bring His people to the town.
Pray for new housing, for churches to evangelize new neighbourhoods.
THE SWAN YOUTH PROJECT

Originally a church run project, the alcohol free pub at the Swan ‘has been plunged into a cash crisis after being rejected for a lottery grant.’ Gazette Jan 16th

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of the project initiated by local churches, who converted the former derelict Swan Inn, into an alcohol-free pub.

As intercessors lets stand in the gap for the Swan, and pray for God’s mercy on the project and the failure of the church to unite in its vision for the Swan.

Pray for Clare Muir who is the co-ordinator of the project, and also Lucy Bannister a trainee youth worker at NBC who has the Swan as her placement while training with Oasis Trust in London.

The Swan is a popular venue for youngsters, providing a safe alcohol and drug free venue for 12-18 year olds, running a drama group, sexual advice teen clinic, after-school drop-ins and gig nights.

A fundraising campaign has been launched, with the need for financial stability.

WAY INN

Ongoing pray is needed as Trustees and Directors consider the future vision for the Way Inn.
Pray earnestly for God’s protection of Directors and Trustees and for unity in decision-making as they seek to follow God’s leading.
The Post Office is up for sale. The options are for a buyer to take the PO off-site and the building would be used as a coffee shop/book shop and counselling rooms upstairs. Alternatively the PO would remain on-site and the leasing of the ground floor would allow for the renting of another ground floor property on the High St.
The project isn’t closing, but being modified to provide the most suitable venue for today’s church in the High St.

This market outreach is a good work, let it be one cog in a bigger gear wheel. God is gearing us up for outreach of divers kinds. Let the body say Yes, I will praise you with my mouth, yes in deed!
