Valley of Praise Prayer Guide No 3
February 08
www.valleyofpraise.org
Welcome to any new readers this month!
In the midst of challenging Job about the whole creation process, God said “Who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” Job38:6-7. It would seem that God uses music and shouting for joy as an accompaniment to his creative activity. There seems to be a relationship between song and creativity. une cannot help but wonder how often God takes the songs of worship from prayer warriors in their closets and sets in motion miracles of His “new creation” workings! CS Lewis in his Chronicles of Narnia depicts Aslan creating the land of Narnia by singing it into existence.
Prayer Focus – Government
“Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Saviour God wants us to live.”1Tim. 2:2,3 (Message)
Last June, Brian had the great privilege and honour of addressing and praying for a group of Christians who had gathered together in the main senate chamber of the Houses of Parliament in Paraguay. There were representatives from many different government departments from the military to customs officials present and they were meeting for the first time to encourage one another to raise up prayer meetings in the different departments of government to pray for honesty and integrity in government and for the prosperity of the nation.
Pray for Christians working in the Parliaments and Assemblies, local and national – politicians, advisors, researchers, administrative staff and those involved in catering, maintenance and security, that God will guide and inspire them and give them increasing unity and opportunities to meet for prayer and fellowship. That they may be salt and light.
Thank God for the work of Christians in parliament (CiP), a non-denominational and official all-Party body serving as an umbrella for the diverse expression of Christian faith in Parliament.
Pray for any individuals and their families in local and national government who are facing political or personal difficulties at this time. Ask God to draw near to them and grant them wisdom, strength and courage to say and do what is best.
“God of righteousness and truth, may they never lead the nation wrongly through love of power, desire to please, or unworthy ideals; but laying aside all private interests and prejudices keep in mind their responsibility to seek to improve the condition of all mankind. Amen.” (From a prayer read in the House of Commons before each sitting.)
If you know of issues in the area that need special prayer either let us know so we can put it in the next bulletin, or post it on the web site. Don’t forget to sign into the new blog on the website and post your comments, prayer requests, testimonies etc. This prayer guide will be posted on the blog too.
