Berkhamstead Watchman on the Wall

BERKHAMSTED WATCHMEN ON THE WALL
24 hours a day 7 days a week Prayer for Berkhamsted
Prayer Guide No 64 – March 2008

The Servant of the Lord

“My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth,
He will not fail nor be discouraged,
Till He has established justice in the earth,
And the coastlands shall wait for His law.” Isaiah 42:1-4

PRAY FOR THE CHURCH IN BERKHAMSTED using these Scriptures

Jesus says, “ I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven….”Matt 16:18,19

“praying always ……..that utterance may be give to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel…….that in it I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.” Eph 6:19,20

“Do not be afraid but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” Acts 18:9,10

“you are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? You are the light of the world A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden….Let your light so shine before men…” Matt 5:13-16

pray for boldness within the church to evangelise and witness, that we wouldn’t be afraid to speak and that we would be salt and light in our society.
for the monthly witness of the market stall as churches work together to maintain a regular Christian presence in the heart of Berkhamsted. Pray for creative ways of sharing our living faith in Christ, for real communication and fruitfulness in the face of a lot of nominalism and secularism.
for the Easter services in local churches, for a strong presentation of the gospel.
for KRC as the elders interview for the position of church leader and for Billy Milton’s future.
for unity within BBC especially for Mary Stringer at this time
for NBC, for renewed visions and refreshment for David Russell as he goes on sabbatical for four months.
for unity within the church in Berkhamsted and for ministers as they meet and pray together, that they would have unity in the Spirit.
pray for all youth and childrens workers as they have the incredible task of pastoring and mentoring young people in their faith

PRAY FOR THE TOWN

· As original visionaries of the Swan Project we feel strongly that the Church has a responsibility to prayer, asking God to revive the original vision and restore the honour of His name at the Swan. Clare Muir, the co-ordinator of the youth project is working hard to maintain a programme for many needy young people and fundraise. She needs our prayers.

· pray for the shortage of school places for reception children in September 2008. Gazette February 6th, ‘following a meeting with Herts County Council officials parents have been assured that the 33 children who had been rejected from over-subscribed primary schools in Berkhamsted, would not have to make the journey to Hemel Hempstead schools, where there were surplus places.’ Pray for wisdom for local planners, for the local MP David Gauke who. Pray also for parents who are distressed about the uncertainty of their children’s schooling.

· Free psychic readings have been offered in the local paper. Pray that this offer won’t be taken up by readers, and this initiative will be a failure. Pray that those with spiritual hunger will seek the living God.

· Psychic Fayres Pray that those who organise these Fayre and those who attend would have their spiritual needs met only in Jesus Christ. Pray for a turning to Christ among those attracted to New Age philosophy.

· continue to pray for the Way Inn, for the Trustees and Directors as they make major decisions, that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

· pray for all those of other faiths who live in our postcode, for developing of good relationships and break down of misunderstandings between us.

PRAY FOR MARRIAGE

Pray for the strengthening of all marriages and families that “what God has joined together, let no man separate.” Matt 19:6
Pray for Christian marriages as the enemy tries to breakdown marriage in this nation and as satanists pray against Christian marriages, especially those of church leaders.
See attachment regarding marriage in Norway.

PRAY FOR TRING
As Watchmen we want to include Tring as there have been deaths through suicide and accidents of young people.
Pray for a blanket of love over Tring, and for healing of divisions in churches.

PRAY FOR THE POLICE especially Jerry Alford, Area Superintendent of West Herts
